Vivo Teases the V80 in Last Year’s iPhone Orange

Vivo India’s V80 5G teaser confirms an orange finish that tracks last year’s iPhone Pro, with battery and price still unofficial.

Vivo India posted an orange Vivo V80 5G on September 15, with a raised camera plateau and a ZEISS hashtag, and no launch date. The clip is the first official India look at the next V-series phone. Specs, price and a day on the calendar are still missing.

Six days earlier Apple had already pulled last year’s bright Pro colour off the iPhone lineup. The picture Vivo chose to lead with is the part that landed first.

Vivo India Led the Teaser With Orange

The first India post went up on September 15. vivo India (@Vivo_India) said stories were about to get a cinematic upgrade, called the phone a creative partner, and told people to stay tuned. The hashtags were #vivoV80, #MyCinematicMoments and #ZEISSPortraitSoPro.

A second clip the same morning talked about every story, every reel and every frame. On September 16 the account posted again: moments and stories, a cinematic upgrade on the way. None of those posts listed a battery size, a chip, a zoom figure or a rupee price.

On September 17 the campaign shifted. The new line was about how the phone looks, not how it shoots.

A new expression of design. Coming Soon.

The phone in the videos is orange, with a large camera plateau and ZEISS branding on the module. Vivo’s own teaser copy also promises AI camera tools, better low-light shots, the biggest battery in a V-series phone and the smoothest display yet. That is still slogan language. It is not a spec sheet.

Cosmic Orange Left Apple’s Lineup on September 9

Apple unveiled the iPhone 17 Pro on September 9, 2025 and put it on sale on September 19, 2025. The Pro colours were Silver, Deep Blue and Cosmic Orange, the first loud colour on a Pro iPhone after years of muted metal. In India the 17 Pro started from Rs 1,34,900.

Apple discontinued that phone on September 9, 2026, when it announced the iPhone 18 Pro. The 18 Pro goes on sale on September 19, 2026, and Cosmic Orange is not in the new set. Vivo’s orange V80 clip arrived on September 15, in the six-day gap between those two Apple dates, against the Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro finishes that just left the shops.

Android makers have been chasing that orange for months. Vivo still chose it as the first India frame for the V80. The colour talk that followed was not about Passion Red or Lemon Yellow, the V70 shades Vivo already sells. It was about Burgundy and Glacier, the new iPhone 18 Pro finishes, sitting next to orange. The silhouette is close enough that last year’s iPhone colour is doing the selling, and this year’s iPhone colours are the ask.

What the ZEISS Hashtag Confirms

Vivo has not published a camera list for the V80 in India. The hashtag is doing that job for now. #ZEISSPortraitSoPro is the same portrait line the company already uses on the V70 series. The teaser shows a triple-camera deck on a plateau, which matches how Vivo has built the V series, not a surprise layout.

WHAT WE KNOW

  • The colour: At least one orange finish is in the teaser, with a raised camera plateau and ZEISS on the module.
  • The pitch: vivo India is selling cinematic stories and a creative partner, not a chip name or a price.
  • The India plan: A coming-soon shop listing is live, and model V2648 has BIS clearance.
  • The last V phone: The V80 is being lined up as the follow-on to the V70, which Vivo launched on February 19, 2026.

WHAT IS UNCONFIRMED

  • The date: Leaks keep pointing at the first week of October. Vivo has not named a day.
  • The battery: A 7,200mAh cell is widely tipped and would be the largest in a V-series phone. It is not official.
  • The software: OriginOS 7 on Android 17 is a leak, timed to a China software debut on September 16. Public spec sheets have not locked it.
  • The price: Leaks put the phone above Rs 60,000. Vivo has not printed a number.

Leaks that travel with the teaser go further than ZEISS on a plateau. They describe a 50MP ZEISS night telephoto with 3x optical zoom, 10x zoom in portrait mode for the first time on a V-series phone, and 4K cinematic video with in-app colour grading. The named movie styles in those leaks are Modern Movie, Vibrant and Pastel, tools Vivo has kept on the higher X series until now. Treat that as a source claim, not a launch checklist.

The V70 Price Floor and the S2 Gap

Vivo priced the V70 at Rs 45,999 for 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and Rs 49,999 for 12GB and 256GB. Sales started on February 26, 2026. The V70 uses a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel at 120Hz, a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip, a 6,500mAh battery with 90W charging, and ZEISS-tuned cameras. Passion Red and Lemon Yellow were the two colours. The V70 Elite, with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip, started at Rs 51,999, then Rs 56,999 and Rs 61,999.

The next V phone was tipped for mid-August, then slipped. Tipsters blamed strategy shifts. Into that gap Vivo brought back the S series, which had been absent in India since the S1 in August 2019, a seven-year break.

The S2 launched on August 6, 2026, and went on sale on August 11. It starts at Rs 39,999 for 8GB and 128GB, and Rs 44,999 for 8GB and 256GB. Both variants stop at 8GB of RAM. The phone has a 6.83-inch 3D curved AMOLED panel at 120Hz, a Dimensity 7360-Turbo chip, a 7,050mAh battery with 44W charging, and OriginOS 6 on Android 16. Colours are Sapphire Blue, Regal Bronze and Silk White. It is a design-and-battery phone at a lower rung, not a ZEISS V-series stand-in.

VIVO’S INDIA MID-PREMIUM LADDER

Phone India launch Start price Battery Chip
V70 February 19, 2026 Rs 45,999 6,500mAh Snapdragon 7 Gen 4
S2 August 6, 2026 Rs 39,999 7,050mAh Dimensity 7360-Turbo
V80 (tipped) First week of October Above Rs 60,000 7,200mAh Snapdragon 7 Gen 4

If those V80 leaks hold, the chip does not move. The V70 already uses Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. The S2 undercuts the V series on price and skips ZEISS. The V80 has to justify a jump over Rs 45,999 with battery, cameras and the orange deck, not with a new processor name.

A 7,200mAh Cell Is Still Unofficial

The figure that keeps attaching itself to the V80 is 7,200mAh, often described as a silicon-carbon pack with 90W charging. That would be 700mAh more than the V70’s 6,500mAh cell, and still larger than the S2’s 7,050mAh pack. Vivo has teased the biggest battery in a V-series phone. It has not printed 7,200.

Display leaks describe a 6.59-inch 1.5K flat AMOLED panel at 144Hz, the same size as the V70 with a faster refresh rate. Camera leaks repeat a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide, a 50MP telephoto and a 50MP front camera. IP68 and IP69 show up in the same tips. A 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and an aluminium frame sit in older briefings. That is not on the India teaser.

CAMERA LEAKS RIDING WITH THE TEASER

  • Telephoto: A 50MP ZEISS night telephoto with 3x optical zoom is the most repeated camera tip.
  • Portrait zoom: 10x zoom in portrait mode would be new for the V series, a feature pulled down from the X series.
  • Video: 4K cinematic recording with live background blur and three named grades, Modern Movie, Vibrant and Pastel.
  • Software camera: An AI Creative Camera with more than 30 effects, plus a live sticker collage tool, is in the same briefing pile.

The chip in those briefings is still the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 mobile platform, a 4nm part with a 2.8GHz prime core. Qualcomm says it is 27 percent faster on CPU, 30 percent faster on GPU and 65 percent faster on NPU work than Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, and its image hardware records up to 4K at 30fps. That is the same silicon already in the V70. A cinematic V80, on this leak sheet, is a camera and battery rewrite on last season’s chip.

OriginOS 7 began its China run on September 16, a day after the first India V80 clip. Leaks say the V80 could be the first Vivo phone in India to ship that skin, on Android 17. Until Vivo says so, the software story is as unofficial as the milliamp figure.

Model V2648 Cleared Indian Standards

BIS has approved two Vivo models together: V2648, tied to the V80 through NBTC in Thailand, SIRIM in Malaysia and SDPPI in Indonesia, and V2640, already mapped to the S2 FE through Bluetooth SIG. That pairing is why an India launch in October is being treated as close, even without a date from Vivo.

The S2 FE is widely described as a rebadge of the V80 Lite 5G, which launched in Malaysia with a 10,000mAh battery, 44W charging, a 6.84-inch 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED panel, a Dimensity 7300e chip, a 50MP rear camera and a 32MP front camera. If that mapping is right, Vivo would be splitting a huge-battery Lite from a ZEISS V80 in the same season. The V80 teaser is not that Lite phone. It is the orange plateau.

Price leaks sit above Rs 60,000 and have been grouped with the Oppo Reno 16, which starts at Rs 61,999. That would put the V80 closer to the V70 Elite’s top SKU than to the V70’s Rs 45,999 floor. RAM and storage costs are the reason most briefings give for the jump. The S2 launching with 8GB only is the same pressure, one rung down. Vivo has not confirmed a rupee figure, so the 60,000-plus band is a leak, not a sticker.

No Launch Date on the Shop Page

A coming-soon V80 page for India went live on Vivo’s shop on September 17, the same day as the design clip. It does not name a launch date. Empty product pages also appeared on Amazon India and Flipkart that day. Retailers are building shelves. The company is still saying soon.

THE V80 INDIA TEASE, DAY BY DAY

  1. September 9, 2026: Apple discontinues the iPhone 17 Pro and its Cosmic Orange finish as it unveils the iPhone 18 Pro.
  2. September 15, 2026: vivo India posts the first V80 clips, orange, ZEISS, cinematic upgrade, no specs.
  3. September 16, 2026: A third clip repeats the cinematic line. OriginOS 7 starts its China debut the same day.
  4. September 17, 2026: Vivo posts “A new expression of design,” opens the shop listing, and retailer pages appear on Amazon and Flipkart.

Leaks still point at the first week of October. That window is now the working assumption around BIS, the shop page and the teaser cadence. It is not a date Vivo has read out. The iPhone 18 Pro goes on sale on September 19, 2026, while this orange V80 is still a coming-soon tile.

Vivo has not named a day, a price or a milliamp figure. The official India record is an orange phone, a ZEISS hashtag, a design line and the word soon. The rest is still a leak sheet waiting for a stage.
