Strictly’s Adam Thomas misses TV show due to illness

The Emmerdale star is hoping to recover in time for Saturday’s live show.

Strictly Come Dancing fans are worried about the fate of one of their favorite contestants, Adam Thomas, who had to skip a TV appearance on Friday due to feeling unwell.

The actor, who plays Adam Barton on the popular soap opera Emmerdale, was supposed to join his professional dance partner Luba Mushtuk on the spin-off show Strictly: It Takes Two, hosted by Fleur East.

However, he was absent from the show and Mushtuk explained that he was resting and getting ready for the next performance.

How serious is Adam’s condition?

A Strictly spokesperson said that they are hopeful that Adam will be better and able to perform this weekend, but they also have contingencies in place should he not be able to.

The spokesperson added that the health and wellbeing of the Strictly cast and crew is production’s absolute priority.

It is not clear what exactly is wrong with Adam or how he contracted his illness, but some fans speculated that it could be related to the Covid-19 pandemic, which has affected several celebrities and shows recently.

How has Adam performed so far?

Adam and Luba have been impressing the judges and the viewers with their energetic and entertaining routines, scoring high marks and receiving positive feedback.

Last week, they danced to a medley of Backstreet Boys songs, earning 32 points out of 40 and placing fourth on the leaderboard.

They have also shown great chemistry and friendship, with Adam praising Luba for her patience and support.

The pair are due to perform an American smooth to Magic Moments by Perry Como during Saturday’s Halloween week episode, which is expected to be a romantic and elegant dance.

What are Adam’s chances of winning?

Adam is one of the favorites to win the glitterball trophy this year, according to bookmakers and polls.

He has a large fan base from his roles on Emmerdale and Waterloo Road, as well as his appearances on reality shows like I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and Celebrity MasterChef.

He also has a lot of charisma and charm, which makes him popular with the audience and the judges.

He is currently second in the odds, behind EastEnders star Rose Ayling-Ellis, who is deaf and has been inspiring many people with her amazing performances.

What will happen if Adam can’t dance?

If Adam is unable to dance on Saturday, he will have to forfeit his place in the competition, unless he gets a bye from the producers.

This has happened before in previous seasons, when celebrities had to withdraw due to injury or illness.

For example, in 2019, Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing had to quit before the first live show after injuring his foot during rehearsals. He was replaced by Kelvin Fletcher, who went on to win the series.

In 2020, boxer Nicola Adams had to leave after her partner Katya Jones tested positive for Covid-19. They were the first same-sex couple in Strictly history and had received a lot of praise for their groundbreaking partnership.

Will Adam make it to the dance floor?

Adam’s fans are hoping that he will recover soon and be able to continue his Strictly journey with Luba.

They have been sending him messages of support and encouragement on social media, wishing him well and telling him how much they enjoy watching him dance.

Adam has not posted anything on his Instagram or Twitter accounts since Thursday, when he shared a video of him and Luba rehearsing their American smooth routine.

He looked happy and healthy in the clip, which he captioned: “Can’t wait for you all to see this one… me and @lubamushtuk have worked so hard on this… hope you enjoy it as much as we do.”

Will Adam be able to overcome his illness and deliver another stunning performance? Or will he have to say goodbye to his Strictly dream? Tune in on Saturday night to find out!
