King Charles and Queen Camilla were spotted in Scotland this week during their winter break, attending a church service at Crathie Kirk. The royal couple looked in good spirits despite the snowy conditions as they made their way to the service near the Balmoral estate.
A Picturesque Winter Day
The monarch, aged 76, was seen waving from the backseat of the car, dressed in a tweed jacket, as he was driven to the historic church. Alongside him was Lady Sarah Keswick, one of Queen Camilla’s companions. Meanwhile, Queen Camilla, aged 77, braved the cold weather in elegant style, donning a dark wool coat and a furry wide-brimmed hat, completing her winter ensemble.
The scene at Crathie Kirk was like something out of a winter wonderland, with recent snowfall blanketing the Highlands. The Church of Scotland is of special significance to the Royal Family, often serving as their place of worship during stays at Balmoral Castle.
Crathie Kirk’s Royal Connections
The historic church holds sentimental value for the royals, as it has been a consistent part of their visits to the Scottish estate. It is also notable for hosting the intimate wedding of Princess Anne to Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence in December 1992, where just 30 guests attended the ceremony.
King Charles’s Upcoming Trip to Poland
As the royal couple enjoyed their time in Scotland, an important announcement was made on Monday regarding King Charles’s upcoming travel plans. Later this month, he will journey to Poland to attend a commemoration service marking 80 years since the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.
The service will take place on January 27th at the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum and Memorial, an event of great historical and cultural significance. This marks a pivotal moment in the Royal Family’s continued commitment to honoring historical events and advocating for remembrance.
