Tragic death of 21-year-old
The father of a young woman who was found dead in her flat in Glasgow has spoken of his devastation and grief. Louise McGeoch, 21, was discovered by police at her home in Knightswood on Saturday, February 17, 2024, after they received a report of concern for her welfare. Her death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious, by the authorities.
Louise’s dad, John McGeoch, said he was “absolutely heartbroken” by the loss of his “beautiful and talented” daughter, who had a bright future ahead of her. He told the Daily Record that Louise was studying psychology at Glasgow Caledonian University and had plans to become a counsellor. She was also a talented singer and songwriter, who had performed at various venues across the city.
John said: “She was such a lovely person, always smiling and happy. She had so many friends and was loved by everyone who knew her. She was very intelligent and had a passion for helping people. She wanted to make a difference in the world.”
He added: “I don’t know what happened to her, I’m still in shock. I just can’t believe she’s gone. She was my baby girl, my princess. I miss her so much.”
Family and friends pay tribute
Louise’s family and friends have also paid tribute to her on social media, expressing their sadness and disbelief at her sudden death. Her mum, Karen McGeoch, posted a photo of Louise on Facebook with the caption: “My beautiful daughter Louise. I love you so much. You will always be in my heart.”
Her sister, Amy McGeoch, wrote: “I can’t put into words how I feel right now. My sister, my best friend, my everything. You were the most amazing person I’ve ever known. You had such a big heart and a beautiful soul. You were always there for me, no matter what. I don’t know how I’m going to live without you. I love you more than anything, Lou.”
Her boyfriend, Ryan McLaughlin, shared a video of Louise singing one of her original songs, called “You’re the One”, and said: “I’m absolutely devastated. You were the love of my life, the best thing that ever happened to me. You had such a beautiful voice and a brilliant mind. You were my soulmate, my partner in crime, my everything. I’ll never forget you, Lou. You’re the one.”
Police investigation continues
Police Scotland said they were continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Louise’s death, and appealed for anyone with information to come forward. A post-mortem examination will be carried out to establish the exact cause of death.
