On Thursday, 24 April 2025, Scotland’s housing sector came together for an unforgettable celebration at the inaugural Share Awards, held at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow. The event was extra special, marking Share’s 40th anniversary of supporting Scotland’s housing community through training, qualifications, and industry events.
A Night of Celebration and Recognition
The Share Awards, designed to highlight excellence and dedication in Scotland’s housing sector, set the stage for a remarkable evening. As delegates gathered from various housing associations, the Hilton ballroom buzzed with excitement, anticipation, and a sense of camaraderie. The evening was a blend of reflection on the sector’s achievements, learning, and celebration of individuals and teams who have contributed tirelessly to the community.
The event’s formal proceedings kicked off with a series of insightful talks and engaging workshops. Topics ranged from governance and regulation to sector challenges and future prospects. The prestigious Housing Hero Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Anna Stuart MBE, a true pioneer in housing management at Cassiltoun Housing Association. Stuart’s unwavering commitment and leadership over the years have left an indelible mark on the sector, making her an iconic figure in Scottish housing.
A special recognition was also presented to Olwyn Gaffney, in honor of her remarkable 25 years of service to Share. Daryl McIntosh, CEO of Share, spoke about Olwyn’s exceptional contributions to the organization. “Share’s success and longevity over the past four decades simply wouldn’t have been possible without the devotion, commitment, and passion of one extraordinary woman,” McIntosh said. Olwyn’s energy and dedication have shaped the very foundation of Share, and the organization owes much of its success to her.
A Charitable Contribution
The event also highlighted Share’s charitable commitment, raising over £1,600 for Beatson Cancer Charity, which supports those affected by cancer across Scotland. The generosity of the housing sector’s professionals and organizations on this special night speaks volumes about the heart of the community.
This charity auction and donation session during the awards dinner were a reminder of the power of collaboration and how the sector continues to give back to those in need. The funds raised will support Beatson’s ongoing mission to provide cancer care, making a significant difference in people’s lives.
