The procurement represents a significant investment of £14 million, partially funded by the Scottish Zero Emission Bus challenge fund. Since acquiring Midland Bluebird from First Bus in 2022, McGill’s Group has reported an 8% year-on-year increase in passenger numbers. The company credits this growth to network improvements and investment in modern, comfortable vehicles.

Long-Standing Partnership with Yutong
McGill’s Group has already introduced Yutong electric buses into its fleet, with positive feedback from passengers. The latest procurement marks the third order of Yutong vehicles by the company.
Ian Downie, Head of Yutong Sales at Pelican Bus and Coach, highlighted the strength of their ongoing collaboration:
“This is the third tranche of vehicles that McGill’s have ordered from Pelican. It is a testament to our partnership that further vehicles are being delivered in 2025.”
