Glasgow is known for its vibrant culture, rich history, and diverse architecture. But how much does it cost to live in the city’s most prestigious addresses? The Bank of Scotland has released its annual report on the most expensive streets in Scotland, and Glasgow has 10 entries in the top 100. Here are some of the highlights from the report.
Westbourne Gardens tops the list in Glasgow
The most expensive street in Glasgow, according to the Bank of Scotland, is Westbourne Gardens in the West End. The average house price in this street is £1.6 million, making it the seventh most expensive street in Scotland. Westbourne Gardens is a leafy avenue with Victorian terraces and townhouses, close to the Botanic Gardens and Byres Road. It is the only street in Glasgow where the average house price exceeds £1 million.
Park Circus and Dowanhill are among the most sought-after areas
The second most expensive street in Glasgow is Park Circus, with an average house price of £906,000. Park Circus is a stunning example of Georgian architecture, with a circular layout and panoramic views over the city. It is located near Kelvingrove Park and the University of Glasgow, and is home to many professionals, academics, and celebrities.
The third most expensive street in Glasgow is Kingsborough Gardens, with an average house price of £897,000. Kingsborough Gardens is a quiet and elegant street in Dowanhill, one of the most desirable areas in the West End. It features spacious detached and semi-detached villas, surrounded by manicured gardens and mature trees.
Southside and East End also have some pricey properties
The most expensive street in the Southside of Glasgow is Dalziel Drive in Pollokshields, with an average house price of £783,000. Dalziel Drive is a wide and leafy street, with large detached and semi-detached houses, many of which have original features and stained glass windows. It is close to Maxwell Park and Pollok Country Park, as well as the amenities of Shawlands and Strathbungo.
The most expensive street in the East End of Glasgow is Balmoral Drive in Mount Vernon, with an average house price of £481,000. Balmoral Drive is a modern and exclusive development, with detached and semi-detached houses, some of which have balconies and garages. It is close to the M74 motorway and the train station, as well as the Alexandra Park and Golf Course.
The most expensive streets in Scotland are in Edinburgh and Aberdeen
The Bank of Scotland report also revealed the most expensive streets in Scotland as a whole. The top 10 are all located in Edinburgh and Aberdeen, with the most expensive street being Northumberland Street in Edinburgh’s New Town, with an average house price of £1.7 million. The second most expensive street is Rubislaw Den South in Aberdeen, with an average house price of £1.6 million.
The report also showed that the number of streets in Scotland where the average house price is over £1 million has increased from 12 in 2020 to 15 in 2023, indicating a strong demand for high-end properties in the country.
