Clyde Windsurfing Volunteer Feri Szincsak Honored with RYA Scotland Impact Award

Feri Szincsak, a key volunteer at Clyde Windsurfing and SUP Club, has been recognized with the prestigious RYA Scotland Impact Award for his extraordinary contribution to the Scottish windsurfing community.

A Legacy of Dedication and Support

Feri’s involvement in the sport started eight years ago, when his son took up windsurfing. Since then, he has become a cornerstone of the club, playing an essential role in its daily operations. Known for his dependability and hands-on approach, Feri spends countless hours behind the scenes, from maintaining the club’s facilities to providing guidance and encouragement to young athletes.

His commitment extends beyond just helping with logistics. Feri’s dedication to fostering the next generation of windsurfing talent has earned him admiration from both parents and athletes alike. His influence is particularly significant within his own family, where he coaches and supports his two children as they navigate the competitive windsurfing scene.

A Volunteer Like No Other

Feri’s recognition with the RYA Scotland Impact Award comes after a glowing nomination highlighting his steadfast dedication, reliability, and overall positive influence at Clyde Windsurfing and SUP Club. This acknowledgment is not his first; last season, the club honored him as their Volunteer of the Year, recognizing his unwavering contributions.

Jenni Irons, a fellow parent and volunteer at the club, shared her admiration for Feri. “Feri is one of the stalwarts of Clyde Windsurfing Club… no task is too big or too small for Feri,” she said. “He always has the friendliest demeanor, the warmest heart, and the children love him to bits. He’s the one who’s willing to carry two windsurf boards under each arm to help kids get back up from the beach. We really would be lost without him. Every club needs a Feri in their gang.”

Humble Recognition

Despite his invaluable impact, Feri remains humble about the recognition. When presented with the RYA Scotland Impact Award, he expressed his surprise. “I am absolutely surprised. It was never thought that the RYA would give me this award, I’m just here supporting the club!” he said. “I just come in and help, always looking for something new to make the compound better, make the kids happier!”

Feri’s words reflect the genuine selflessness that has made him such a beloved figure at the club. His unwavering support and tireless efforts have undeniably played a major role in the club’s growth and success.

The RYA Scotland Impact Award

The RYA Scotland Impact Award celebrates exceptional volunteers who have made significant contributions to the sport of windsurfing in Scotland. Nominations for this prestigious award are open year-round, with the goal of recognizing individuals like Feri who have had a positive and lasting impact on their communities.
