This year’s total marks an impressive 17% increase from the £132,074 raised in 2023, reflecting the growing commitment from both the railway staff and customers to support veterans and their families.
A Partnership for Change
ScotRail and Network Rail have once again teamed up in a successful partnership to raise funds for Poppyscotland, with contributions coming from all corners of Scotland’s Railway network. The efforts included everything from placing collection tins at ticket offices to offering retail space for fundraising activities at major stations.
The support for Poppyscotland didn’t stop there. ScotRail customers played an integral role, donating generously at stations, while staff worked tirelessly to ensure the appeal reached as many people as possible. The railway also provided free on-duty travel for Poppyscotland staff, allowing them to move across the network and carry out vital fundraising work.
As Armistice Day 2024 approached, collectors were welcomed at four of Scotland’s busiest stations—Glasgow Central, Glasgow Queen Street, Edinburgh Waverley, and Haymarket—where they received much-needed support from both commuters and local communities.
