Meet the Finalists of Scotland’s Christmas Home of the Year

The countdown to the announcement of Scotland’s Christmas Home of the Year is on, with five festive finalists vying for the title when the popular BBC show airs on Monday, 16 December at 8pm on BBC One Scotland. The judges of this year’s Christmas edition of Scotland’s Home of the Year have toured homes across the country, including those in Lesmahagow, Cumbernauld, Dalkeith, Alloa, and Fraserburgh. Interior designers Anna Campbell-Jones and Banjo Beale, alongside architect Danny Campbell, will be judging the homes based on architectural merit, stylish interiors, and, of course, festive flair.

Here’s a look at the finalists:

1. Festive Farmhouse – Lesmahagow

Home to Angela and Mark and their four children, Festive Farmhouse is all about a nature-inspired Christmas theme. The family enjoys making Christmas a collaborative effort, involving everyone in baking, crafting, and creating decorations. Their home is decorated with traditional touches, featuring a large Christmas tree adorned with red baubles and tinsel, alongside stockings and candles. The kitchen is filled with Christmas foliage, and the family’s hand-made decorations add a personal touch to the farmhouse’s charm.

2. Mistletoe House – Cumbernauld

Gillian and Philip, along with their two teenage sons Mitchell and Mackenzie, go all out every year to transform Mistletoe House into a winter wonderland. Gillian takes on the task herself, ensuring everything is done to perfection. The home is decorated with numerous Christmas trees and embellished arches made of hundreds of baubles. A garland runs the full length of the staircase, and there are festive touches in every room, from a Christmas-themed kitchen to a dining area lit with fairy lights and set for Christmas dinner.

3. Holly Bank House – Dalkeith

At Holly Bank House, Christmas takes center stage in every corner of the home. The kitchen, with its vaulted ceiling, is decorated with red baubles and Christmas foliage, creating a festive atmosphere. A large tree adorned with lights stands proudly in the corner, while a dining table, set with a green tablecloth, candles, and a gingerbread house, adds to the holiday cheer.

The winner of Scotland’s Christmas Home of the Year will be announced during the show on Monday night, bringing a touch of festive magic to viewers as they enjoy the incredible creativity and seasonal spirit of these finalists.
