Samsung launched the Galaxy A27 5G in India, slotting its latest AI-first mid-ranger in at an effective starting price of INR 28,999 after launch cashback. The phone goes on sale through Samsung.com, Samsung exclusive stores and partner retailers from July 3.

Headline features include a 120Hz 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset and a 50-megapixel OIS main camera. Samsung is also folding Gemini, Perplexity and Bixby into the software, alongside Circle to Search and live call transcription in English, Hindi and Gujarati. Six generations of Android updates and six years of security patches are bundled in. The package reaches a price tier dominated by Redmi, Realme and Vivo in India.

India’s Pricing and Variants

The Galaxy A27 5G ships in three configurations in India, with the entry model settling at the launch effective price once a flat INR 3,000 bank or UPI cashback is applied. Buyers choosing the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage version pay an effective INR 31,999 once the same cashback is applied, while the top 8GB plus 256GB trim settles at INR 37,499. Without the cashback, prices run at INR 31,999, INR 34,999 and INR 40,499 respectively, per the India launch announcement with cashback and EMI terms.

India gets three colourways, all of them muted: Light Green, Light Pink and Black. Globally Samsung has also listed a fourth shade, Blue, that the company may add to the India line-up later. Samsung is selling the device through its own website, exclusive outlets, partner stores and large online platforms. An instant INR 3,000 cashback applies to all three variants when buyers pay through partner banks or UPI rails.

Variant MRP (INR) Bank/UPI Cashback Effective Price
6GB + 128GB 31,999 3,000 28,999
8GB + 128GB 34,999 3,000 31,999
8GB + 256GB 40,499 3,000 37,499

The Display and the Body That Holds It

Samsung has built the Galaxy A27 5G around a 120Hz 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display running at FHD+ resolution. The panel peaks at up to 1,400 nits of brightness, which Samsung says keeps outdoor use readable. The upgraded Infinity-O cut-out replaces the older notch with a discreet punch-hole design that minimises the visible camera area, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ covers both faces. Thinner, more balanced bezels push the screen-to-body ratio to roughly 86.8 per cent. The 19.5:9 panel carries a density of about 385 pixels per inch, per the global release note and complete spec sheet.

The body measures 162.4 by 78.2 by 7.8 mm, slipping into the slim category for a 5G phone. At 200 grams, the chassis has the heft to support the 5,000mAh battery inside. Samsung pairs the metal-and-glass frame with an IP64 rating, which certifies resistance to splashing water and dust ingress.

Stereo speakers flank the display, and the side-mounted fingerprint sensor handles unlock. The shell ships in finishes that lean pastel on the Light Green and Light Pink options, with Black as the more sober pick.

Performance, Cameras and Battery

Under the back panel, Samsung has fitted Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 Mobile Platform, fabricated on a 4nm process. The chip pairs with UFS 3.1 storage and what Samsung calls LPDDR5X memory. Samsung says the GPU gets a lift over the previous A-series generation, smoothing out gaming and streaming, per the full Galaxy A27 5G hardware profile with IP and CPU details.

A side-mounted fingerprint reader, accelerometer, gyroscope and virtual proximity sensing cover the sensor stack. Bluetooth 5.1, dual-band Wi-Fi ac and USB Type-C 2.0 with OTG round out connectivity.

The rear camera array leads with a 50MP wide sensor that carries optical image stabilisation and 4K video at 30 fps. A 5MP ultrawide covers a 115-degree field of view, while a 2MP macro rounds out the triple setup. Selfies come from a 12MP front camera that supports HDR capture and 1080p video. AI photo tools, including Object Eraser, Edit Suggestions and My Filter, are baked into the Gallery app.

Powering the device is a 5,000mAh battery that Samsung ships with 25W wired fast charging. Samsung’s published claim is that the bundled charger drives the cell from empty to 45 per cent in 30 minutes. The phone runs a single USB Type-C 2.0 port with OTG support and no headphone jack.

  • Display: 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED, 120Hz
  • Chipset: Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 (4nm)
  • Main camera: 50MP with OIS, 4K at 30 fps
  • Battery: 5,000mAh with 25W wired charging

How Samsung Bundled AI Into a Mid-Range Phone

Samsung is selling the A27 as much on brains as on silicon, leaning on its Awesome Intelligence suite as the phone’s defining pitch. Circle to Search with Google now recognises multiple objects in one image, so a user can long-press home, draw around an outfit and its accessories, then virtually try the look on directly from the search results. Voice Transcription in the Voice Recorder app translates in real time across 22 languages, while Live Transcription covers voicemail and calls in English, Hindi and Gujarati. All three of Google Gemini, Perplexity and Samsung’s own Bixby ship pre-installed and are wired into native apps including Gallery.

Object Eraser now makes finer cuts to remove photobombers, and My Filter can copy the colour palette from a reference photo and apply it to a new shot. Edit Suggestions analyses a frame and recommends the strongest tweak, typically one tap away. Samsung’s Awesome Intelligence through the experience runs largely through Gemini and Perplexity, with Bixby retained as a natural-language shell for controlling settings.

The shift is that none of this is locked behind the top-tier S-series. Rivals in the sub-INR 30,000 segment, including Redmi, Realme and Vivo, typically keep on-device generative features for their flagship lines. By collapsing the same AI tools into a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 handset, Samsung has redrawn the floor of what a mid-range buyer should expect. Samsung has positioned Awesome Intelligence as the suite that ties cameras, search and voice apps into one feature layer. What Samsung is selling here is the AI feature breadth, not the raw chipset numbers.

Six Years of Software, Samsung Knox in the Mix

The phone ships with Android 16 underneath Samsung’s One UI 8.5 skin. Samsung’s commitment runs to six generations of Android upgrades and six years of security patches from launch, the longest window in this price tier.

Security rides on Samsung Knox with hardware-backed Knox Vault keeping sensitive data, including PINs and biometrics, isolated from the main OS. NFC support pairs with Samsung Wallet, which handles Tap & Pay, UPI payments, digital IDs and travel documents. Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 5.1 and a USB Type-C port sit alongside the 5G modem, which covers the sub-6 GHz bands Indian carriers use. Storage tops out at 256GB, but microSD cards up to 2TB are accepted in a hybrid SIM slot. Samsung extends the security window to six years for the A27. The SIM tray is hybrid: a microSD card shares space with one of the nano-SIM slots.

Where It Sells and What It Costs After Cashback

Samsung opened sales at retail and online from July 3, the same day as the India announcement. All three RAM and storage configurations were available from day one through Samsung’s retail and online channels, Samsung said.

Beyond the INR 3,000 launch cashback, Samsung is offering two no-cost EMI arrangements. Buyers can pick a zero down-payment plan running up to 15 months through select non-banking financial companies. A second option spreads the cost across 24 months with an 8-month down-payment window. The cashback is available across all three RAM and storage trims and applies once per customer through partner UPI apps and bank cards. Both EMI options are processed through non-banking financial companies that Samsung has listed as partners, with the financing independent of the cashback.

Buyers can land the device through four sales channels that Samsung has opened at launch. Pricing is identical across channels, with the launch cashback applied at checkout on partner bank and UPI payments. Online availability is also covered through Samsung.com and large third-party platforms that carry the official India SKU.

  • Samsung.com official online store
  • Samsung exclusive outlets
  • Partner retail chains and large electronics stores
  • Major online marketplaces
