Woman’s Body Recovered in Search for Missing Aberdeen Sisters

The search for two missing sisters in Aberdeen has taken a tragic turn after police recovered the body of a woman from the River Dee. While formal identification is still pending, the family of Henrietta Huszti has been informed of the discovery. The search for her sister, Eliza, is still ongoing.

Body Discovered Near Queen Elizabeth Bridge

Police Scotland confirmed that a body was found in the River Dee near Queen Elizabeth Bridge at approximately 07:55. The location is close to where Henrietta and Eliza Huszti, both 32, were last seen on 7 January.

Supt David Howieson stated that investigators are keeping the Huszti family updated and will continue their efforts to find Eliza.

A Community Shaken by the Disappearance

The disappearance of the two sisters, originally from Hungary, has deeply affected Aberdeen and beyond.

  • The sisters were last seen crossing Victoria Bridge and walking along the river toward Aberdeen Boat Club.
  • Their last known contact was a text message to their landlady stating they would not return to their flat.
  • The search, involving police boats and coastguard teams, has been concentrated on the tidal River Dee and surrounding coastal areas.

‘Heartbreaking’ News for Family and Friends

Scott Bousfield, owner of the cleaning company where Eliza worked for nearly six years, described the situation as “absolutely shocking.”

“It’s such a shame for the family. Only finding one is heartbreaking too, as they don’t know what’s happened to Eliza yet,” he said.

He also shared that Eliza was a beloved colleague who was very close to her sister and had a passion for cooking.

The Investigation Continues

Authorities have ruled out suspicious circumstances in the case but are still treating it as a missing persons inquiry. Earlier this week, they concluded searches of the river and harbor area but vowed to continue monitoring coastal locations north and south of Aberdeen.

Jozsef Huszti, the sisters’ brother, previously described their sudden disappearance as “strange,” noting that they had been saving to buy a property and had not informed family members of their decision to move out of their rented flat.

The search for Eliza Huszti remains ongoing as police continue their efforts to bring closure to the family and community.
