India has completed a live test of a tamper-resistant national time signal built to run its banks, stock exchanges and power grids without leaning on foreign GPS satellites for the time of day. Engineers linked a laboratory in Bengaluru to the National Stock Exchange’s facility in Chennai this month, using a precision timing protocol called White Rabbit, and confirmed the signal held up end to end.
Months earlier, GPS spoofing attacks disrupted navigation systems at seven major Indian airports, part of a wave of more than 465 spoofing and interference incidents logged near the Amritsar and Jammu corridor. Two Labs Prove a Signal Can Be Trusted
The demonstration ran out of the Regional Reference Standard Laboratory (RRSL) in Bengaluru, under the government’s One Nation, One Time initiative to give critical systems nationwide a single, verifiable clock.
