Gaza Remains The Story, first shown in Gourock, will now travel to other Scottish towns, bringing Palestinian voices and perspectives to a wider audience.
Art from the West Bank Hits Gourock
A pioneering exhibition featuring work from Palestinian artists has opened in Gourock, drawing strong local interest. Titled Gaza Remains The Story, the display includes paintings, photographs, and information panels from the Palestine Museum in Birzeit, West Bank.
The exhibition took place in Medinelli’s pop-up shop on Kempock Street and was inaugurated by former Westminster MP Dr Philippa Whitford, who has long-standing ties to Gaza and the West Bank through her work as a breast cancer surgeon.
Visitors Flock to Experience the Exhibition
Mary McGlashan, representing the Group for Gaza, said the turnout has been impressive. “There’s been a steady stream of visitors,” she said. “We have a visitors book, and people are coming from all over. People are coming in off the street to have a look, we’re delighted by the response.”
The display offers a rare opportunity for Scottish audiences to engage with Palestinian art and culture, and provides context on the region’s history and contemporary issues.
Touring Scotland to Expand Reach
Due to popular demand, the exhibition is now set to tour Scotland, allowing communities beyond Gourock to experience the collection. Organisers hope the tour will spark wider dialogue and understanding about Palestinian culture and experiences.

Local Engagement and Cultural Impact
The Gourock opening has been praised for drawing people off the street and creating community engagement. By connecting art with education and dialogue, the exhibition offers more than just visuals; it gives a platform to stories that are rarely told locally.
With the success of the Gourock showing, organisers are confident the touring version will continue to attract attention and generate meaningful discussion throughout Scotland.
