World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship 2025 – Day 2 Recap: Canada, Scotland, and Italy Lead the Undefeated Teams

Fredericton, New Brunswick – The 2025 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship continued its thrilling action on Sunday, April 27, with five teams maintaining perfect records after Day 2 of competition. Among them, Canada, Scotland, and Italy stood out, each securing victories to sit atop their respective groups.

Canada Shines in Comeback Victory Over Sweden

Jocelyn Peterman and Brett Gallant led Canada to an 8-6 victory over defending champions Sweden, keeping their round-robin record spotless at 3-0. The match started with an early setback for the Canadians, as Sweden’s Anna Hasselborg executed a double take-out in the first end, earning three points and putting the Canadians on the defensive.

However, Peterman and Gallant showed resilience. They answered with two points in the second and fourth ends while limiting Sweden to just one point in the third. By the fifth end, Canada had narrowed the gap to a single point. Utilizing their power play in the sixth, the Canadian duo seized control, scoring three to take a 7-5 lead.

Despite a late push from Sweden in their power play, forcing one point in the seventh, Peterman’s last stone was unnecessary after a missed shot by Hasselborg, prompting the Swedes to concede with handshakes.
