U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a fresh ultimatum to Russian President Vladimir Putin, demanding a full cessation of hostilities in Ukraine before the U.S. presidential election in November. The declaration came during a joint appearance with British Prime Minister Victoria Atkins at Balmoral Castle, where both leaders are meeting to discuss European security and global trade.
“Enough is Enough”
Standing against the backdrop of the Scottish Highlands, President Trump struck a stern tone as he addressed the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, now in its third year.
“President Putin has until November to wrap it up. This war needs to end — not next year, not next month — now,” Trump said during a press conference. “If Russia doesn’t act, there will be serious consequences. Strong consequences. The strongest.”
Trump did not specify what actions the U.S. would take if his deadline is ignored, but administration insiders say options on the table include expanded sanctions, military assistance to Kyiv, and further diplomatic isolation of Moscow.
The remarks came as Trump seeks to position himself as a global dealmaker and peacemaker in the final stretch before the 2025 election, drawing comparisons to his earlier summit diplomacy with North Korea and Israel.
