Snowfall is expected to continue in parts of the UK, including Scotland, with the cold snap giving way to a significant rise in temperatures this week, according to the Met Office.
Snowfall Continues Across the UK
Wintry conditions have affected parts of the UK, including East Anglia, which experienced snow over the weekend. Scotland, in particular, could see additional snowfall over the next few days, with some areas of the country forecast to receive between 1cm and 3cm of snow. For those in higher regions, such as areas above 300m, snowfall could accumulate up to 20cm, posing potential challenges for local travel and infrastructure.
A Dramatic Warm-Up Ahead
However, after the cold snap, temperatures are expected to rise sharply. By the middle of the week, the Met Office predicts temperatures could soar to 14°C, a significant departure from the usual February average of 6°C in Scotland and 9°C in southern England. This sudden rise in temperature will be a welcome change for many, particularly after a week of dull skies and gloomy weather, which kept some areas from seeing the sun for over a week.
Regional Forecasts
While western regions are likely to experience some rain as the temperatures increase, eastern parts of the UK, including Scotland, are expected to remain drier throughout the week. The shift from cold to warm weather is anticipated to bring a noticeable change, providing a brief respite from the persistent winter conditions
