At 85, Actress Helen Embraces Pilates and Plans Dream Travels to Scotland and China

Helen, an 85-year-old actress, is proving that age is no barrier to fitness and adventure. A video recently went viral showing her in a gym, diligently practicing Pilates, and it’s inspired many to follow her example. In an exclusive interview, Helen shares how returning to exercise has made a significant impact on her health and well-being, and how she’s planning exciting future travels to Scotland and China.

Rediscovering Fitness with Pilates

Helen, who has always been active, credits Pilates as the best form of exercise she has found for her body at this stage of life. “I’ve exercised all my life,” she says. “From dancing and going to health clubs, to practicing yoga, it has always been a part of me.” But in her 80s, she began to notice that her balance wasn’t as steady as it once was, and she started relying on a walking stick.

This is when she decided to return to exercise. “Now, at 85, I’ve found Pilates,” Helen says, smiling. She works out at least five days a week, committing to an hour each time. Her routine began with exercises focusing on flexibility, gradually progressing to incorporate strength-building techniques.

Her trainer and the team made sure the workouts were gentle yet effective, making Pilates an ideal choice for Helen’s body. “Pilates is great for people of all ages, especially seniors,” she says. “The controlled, gentle exercises worked wonders for my balance, core, flexibility, and strength. I feel happier and more energized after every session.”

Helen is so impressed with the results that she now recommends Pilates to her friends and family. Her message is clear: it’s never too late to start moving and taking care of your body.

A Healthy Lifestyle: Meals and Intermittent Fasting

Along with her workout routine, Helen follows a balanced and mindful approach to her diet. She enjoys a breakfast of fruits, toast, eggs, or cheese and makes sure her lunch includes a variety of vegetables and non-vegetarian proteins. Dinner, on the other hand, is always a light meal.

Helen also practices intermittent fasting, maintaining a 12-14 hour fasting window each day. “I find it keeps me energized and helps me maintain a healthy weight,” she explains. But it’s not all about discipline; Helen loves food and especially enjoys her mother’s recipes. “Burmese Khow Suey, Shrimp Leh Toh, and Paya made at Galaxy apartments are some of my all-time favorites,” she adds fondly.

Dream Destinations: Scotland and China

While fitness is her focus now, Helen is also looking ahead to her travels. A self-proclaimed travel enthusiast, she can’t wait to explore new destinations around the world. Scotland is high on her list, not only for its breathtaking beauty but also to spend quality time with her family there. “I want to experience the scenic landscapes and be with my loved ones,” Helen says.

She also expresses excitement about visiting China, a place she has never been. “I’ve always wanted to see China. It’s such a fascinating country, and I can’t wait to experience its rich culture and history.”
