A stunning six-bedroom mansion in Gleneagles, Perthshire, that was won by a lucky raffle winner last year is now up for sale for a whopping £3.75m. The luxury property, which boasts a cinema room, a golf simulator, and a hot tub, was the grand prize of the Omaze Million Pound House Draw for Breast Cancer Now in September 2023.
Raffle winner chooses to sell the dream home
The winner of the raffle, who was identified only as Jon from Berkshire, England, had the option to either live in the house, rent it out for around £7,500 a month, or sell it and keep the money. He also received a cash prize of £100,000 and an £80,000 Porsche. Jon decided to sell the house and become a multi-millionaire, just four months after he was announced as the lucky winner in November 2023.
Jon said the house was “an absolute dream come true” when he received the news, but he did not reveal his reasons for selling it. He said he was grateful to Omaze and Breast Cancer Now for the opportunity and hoped that his decision would help raise more awareness and funds for the charity.
House features and location
The house, which was bought by Omaze UK Limited in July 2023 for £4.3m, is situated in a prime location overlooking the world-famous Gleneagles golf course. It has a spacious open-plan kitchen and dining area, a main bedroom with two dressing rooms, a reading nook, a balcony, and an en-suite bathroom. It also has a one-bedroom guest annexe with a kitchen, a lounge, and another balcony.
Some of the most unique features of the house are its state-of-the-art cinema room, where the owners can enjoy their favourite movies on a large screen, a virtual golf simulator, where they can practice their swing without leaving the house, and a cosy cabin-style snug with a modern log-burner, where they can relax and unwind. The house also has a gym with a steam room, a shower room, and a changing room.
Outside, the house is set within more than half an acre of tranquil gardens and grounds. There is also a hot tub to enjoy the panoramic views of The Queen’s Course and Ochil Hill.
Charity partnership and future plans
The house draw was part of a partnership between Omaze, an online fundraising platform that offers once-in-a-lifetime experiences and prizes, and Breast Cancer Now, the UK’s leading breast cancer research charity. The draw raised over £1m for the charity, which funds vital research and support for people affected by the disease.
James Oakes, chief international officer at Omaze, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Breast Cancer Now for our first ever house draw in Scotland. By offering this stunning property, along with £100,000 in cash, we’re giving people the choice to either live in an incredible house, rent it out for a supplementary income or simply sell up and become multi-millionaires.”
He added that Omaze plans to launch more house draws in the UK and around the world, with the aim of raising more money for worthy causes and creating more winners.
The house has been listed with Savills, a global real estate services provider.
