Delhi Police denies permission for Hanuman Jayanti processions in Jahangirpuri

The Delhi Police have denied permission for processions by Vishwa Hindu Parishad and another group in Jahangirpuri area on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. The decision comes in the wake of clashes between two communities in the same area last year. However, the police and paramilitary forces conducted a march in the area to promote communal harmony. The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued an advisory to all states and Union Territories to ensure peaceful celebrations. Meanwhile, the West Bengal High Court has directed the state government to requisition central forces for maintaining law and order during Hanuman Jayanti celebrations.

West Bengal High Court orders requisition of central forces for Hanuman Jayanti

The West Bengal High Court has ordered the state government to requisition central forces to maintain law and order during Hanuman Jayanti celebrations. The court cited recent events and directed the Centre to swiftly arrange for deployment upon receiving requisition from the state. The court also instructed the state’s intelligence department to be alert and prevent any potential violence. It also directed political leaders not to give any provocative statements to the media.
