When it comes down to it, what matters most in this industry is how much you pour into your business and career. More importantly, it’s about how much you grow as an individual.
As you begin to take steps towards achieving your dreams, there are certain things that should be given more attention than others.
That thing is water.
I’m talking about drinking water. A lot of people forget about its importance until they start running late for work or they wake up feeling less-than-stellar. By then, it can be too late — dehydration has set in and poor performance has been the result.
On the flip side, some people don’t drink enough water and suffer from excessive thirst. If they make a habit out of it, they will notice their overall health improving. But, unfortunately, they won’t see any results when it comes to reaching their goal.
This article will talk about why water is important and some easy ways to ensure you are getting the appropriate amount. It will also discuss some fun ways to use water in your daily life.
Why Is Water Important?
Drinking adequate amounts of water helps keep our bodies hydrated and functioning properly. Without it, we risk suffering from various symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, fatigue, dry skin, dizziness, headaches, lightheadedness and even potential death.
Why measure liquid volume?
A standard way to check your water intake is by using a special tool called a drinking glass or fl oz cup. This is typically one fluid ounce (Ounce), which is enough for about two sips of water.
By this definition, most people are not drinking enough water!
The average person needs at least eight glasses of plain H2O every day to meet their hydration requirements. That’s two Ounces per drink!
Fortunately, we have another method to determine how much water you need to drink. It’s easy, cost-effective and works in your home. All you needed to know about measuring liquid volumes comes down to math!
It takes into account the density of water and its amount in relation to some other common unit sizes. The easiest way to remember these numbers is as “liquid ounces equals sixteen pountss of water.”
That means if you want to know how many liquids equal one bottle of water, just multiply the number of bottles by sixteen and you’re all set!
Luckily, there’s an app that makes it super easy to keep track of your daily water intake! And once you’ve downloaded the MyWater app onto your smartphone, you can easily add any type of beverage to help with calculations.
Calculate the amount of liquid in your bottle
The next thing you want to do is figure out how much fluid is left in your bottle. Luckily, we have some very helpful tips here!
Firstly, you can determine whether or not the liquid is clear, yellow, red, orange, purple, or brownish-green. Each color represents a different type of fluid, so knowing which one has disappeared will tell you what kind of fluid you are missing.
If it’s green then it’s watery plant matter like grass or feces. If it’s white then it’s plain drinking water that was replaced with something else (like sugar alcohol). Or if it’s thick and rich in chocolate flavor then it’s probably milk.
But what about those other colors? They mean there are chemicals in the fluid! For example, when you lose salty fluids such as tears, blood can mix with them and create an acid solution called plasma. A normal human body can usually neutralize this acidic fluid, but people who suffer from heart conditions may need to be more careful with their intake.
Multiply the amount of liquid in your bottle by the following factors
Glassware
We should always use appropriate glass for our beverages and food. Using plastic or ceramic containers is not recommended as they can leach chemicals into your drinks. Some examples are bottles made of polyethylene, coconut oil, or sugar.
Using alcohol-proof glasses is important because some plastics will react with alcoholic beverages, altering the taste and potentially creating unsafe drinking conditions.
Serve sizes also matter! A standard drink size varies from country to country, but 0.5 – 1 fluid ounce (16–32 ml) is considered one serving.
You are boiling a recipe for chicken
Most recipes call for just how much water you need to make sure that the vegetables cook down and taste good. But what if we told you there was a way to make extra money by making our own vegetable stock?
There is! And it’s more efficient than buying pre-made stocks. Not only do you get better quality, you know exactly what goes into it.
We will talk about why this is important later in this article, but first let’s discuss how to make your own veggie broth. It’s easy!
Cook up your veggies (we suggest sticking to your numbers)
Once you have cooked all of your vegetables down, you will want to strain them. This removes any remaining bits of soil or starch that may remain from the cooking process.
After straining, you will then want to pour the liquid through a sieve or colander. This second step helps ensure that no leftover particles end up in your stock.
At this stage, you can either discard the solids or save them for another use. We recommend saving the greens as compost or putting them in a pot with other seasonings and baking soda and vinegar and letting it soak overnight. The next day, dry them out and add them back into the soup or pasta sauce.
Now, once everything is done, you simply run the liquid you have collected through an additional layer of cheesecloth or filter material to take out any excess moisture.
You need to refill your bottle with liquid
There are two main reasons why you would need to refresh your water bottle. The first is physical, and it comes from drinking enough of the right amount of fluid.
Drinking enough water helps keep your body hydrated which is important for several things, including:
Keeping your blood volume high so that you can transport nutrients and glucose around your body
Stimulating the digestion process of food
Helping regulate body temperature
Regulating acidity in your stomach
The second reason to drink more of anything is psychological. If you don’t drink much of something, then you won’t feel hungry or thirsty when you do consume it. This could make it harder to start eating healthfully and efficiently.
Making an effort to drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day is a good place to begin.
You are trying to water your plants
While most people agree that keeping your house or car dry is important, watering your plant care-department can make a big difference in how well they do their jobs!
Too much water makes your plants lean wet by the window or wall where they cannot get enough sunlight needed for healthy growth, and may even drown them completely.
Leaving your plants too long without water could cause them to slow down leaf growth and potting soil to oxidize and turn brown. This will not only look ugly, but also contribute to poor health for your plants.
You need to know the amount of water you are drinking
We’ve talked before about how important it is to drink enough water, but now we can actually quantify just how much water you should be drinking every day!
The number that most people get wrong is way too high!
Most people believe that by simply washing your hands or showering once a week, they have fulfilled their daily water intake goal. They underestimate how many glasses of water you need to satisfy this goal though!
It takes at least eight cups (nine if you don’t like sweet things) for your body to completely digest all the food you eat. That means there’s an extra two cups left in your stomach when you finished eating!
This leftover liquid gets absorbed through your gut wall, and some makes its way out your nose, mouth, and other areas of your skin to keep you hydrated.
You are trying to lose weight
Let’s talk about how to calculate your drink-volume limit for weight loss. The average person needs around 2–3 cups of liquid per day to survive, so why do we feel like drinking more is a good thing?
It’s because our bodies tend to hold onto water very tightly. We develop habits of overdrinking in an effort to feel better or achieve what seem like goals (weight loss, improved appearance).
But aside from making us feel poorly, excessive alcohol consumption can be harmful to your health. It may also negatively affect your relationships, work, and education.
Dieticians agree that one alcoholic beverage a night is fine when it comes to having a few drinks. But if you find yourself drinking more than this every night, it might be time to say goodbye to your waistline.
Drink less by choosing light beers or nonalcoholic beverages instead of heavy ones. Also, try to avoid buying bottles as these usually contain more fluid than cans.
