A life of service and compassion
Scot Livingstone, also known as Sarah, was a selfless woman who dedicated her life to helping others. She volunteered as a petty officer for the Sea Cadets and also helped out with the Aberdeen RNLI. She was also passionate about supporting homeless people in her city, and often provided them with food, clothes, and a friendly ear.
Scot Livingstone passed away suddenly at the age of 33, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and generosity. Her friends and colleagues have paid tribute to her vibrant personality and her positive impact on the community.
A ‘true angel’ for the homeless
One of the people who benefited from Scot’s kindness was John Smith, a homeless man who lives in Aberdeen. He said that Scot was a ‘true angel’ who always treated him with respect and dignity.
“She was always there for me, no matter what. She would bring me hot meals, blankets, and sometimes even books to read. She would sit with me and chat for hours, and make me feel like I mattered. She was the only person who cared about me,” he said.
John said that Scot also helped him find a place to stay at a local shelter, and encouraged him to seek help for his mental health issues. He said that she was like a sister to him, and that he will miss her terribly.
“I don’t know what I’m going to do without her. She was the best thing that ever happened to me. She saved my life,” he said.
A role model for the Sea Cadets and the RNLI
Scot was also a valued member of the Sea Cadets and the RNLI, where she shared her skills and enthusiasm with young people and fellow volunteers. She joined the TS Scylla unit in Aberdeen as the boats officer, and became involved in district training and night supervision.
She also assisted the Aberdeen RNLI with fundraising and awareness campaigns, and participated in several rescue missions. She was known for her professionalism, dedication, and courage.
Both organisations have lowered their flags in tribute to Scot, and expressed their condolences to her family and friends.
Aberdeen Sea Cadets said in a statement: “Scot was a wonderful person who touched the lives of many cadets and staff. She was always cheerful, helpful, and eager to learn new things. She was a role model for everyone, and we are proud to have had her as part of our team. She will be sorely missed.”
Aberdeen RNLI said in a statement: “Scot was a valued member of our crew, who always went above and beyond to support our work. She was a brave and compassionate woman, who showed great care for the people and the sea. She was a friend to all, and we are deeply saddened by her loss.”
A loving daughter and sister
Scot is survived by her parents, David and Mary, and her brother, James. They said that Scot was a loving daughter and sister, who always put others before herself.
“She was a beautiful soul, who had so much to offer the world. She loved helping people, and she did it with a smile on her face. She was our angel, and we are so proud of her,” they said.
They also thanked everyone who has sent them messages of sympathy and support, and asked for privacy during this difficult time.
A funeral service for Scot will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024, at St. Mary’s Church in Aberdeen, followed by a private cremation. Donations in her memory can be made to the Sea Cadets or the RNLI.
