Mark Wright, known for his time on The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE), recently shared his deep affection for Glasgow while performing as a DJ at Ingliston Country Club in Bishopton, Renfrewshire. The former reality TV star, who is married to actress Michelle Keegan, spent the weekend at the club, enjoying the Scottish ambiance, reminiscing about past visits, and connecting with the people of Glasgow.
A Special Connection to Scotland
Mark’s fondness for Glasgow isn’t new; he’s developed a personal connection to the city over the years, especially given that Michelle frequently visits for work and family gatherings. “Glasgow and Scotland is my second home,” he said, sharing that Michelle’s family has roots in the area, adding to his reasons for returning.
One of Mark’s closest friends, Arfan, also hails from Glasgow, adding to his fond memories. Mark reminisced about their nights out at popular spots like the Sugar Cube club on Queen Street and the now-closed Jumpin Jaks, where he had his first paid appearance in Scotland. “I used to go shopping in the city centre, and me and Arfan used to go partying together in the city when I was younger,” he shared with a smile.
Dining and DJing at Ingliston
While at Ingliston Country Club, located just a short drive from Glasgow, Mark indulged in some local hospitality. Relaxing at Palomino’s Italian restaurant, he enjoyed a meal of beer, chicken tenders, and truffle fries before taking to the DJ booth for his set. The club has been a favorite for Wright, who appreciates the blend of luxury and relaxation that the venue offers.
Mark stayed overnight at Ingliston, commenting on how much his family, including Michelle and her grandfather, loved their last visit. “It’s such an amazing place, and it’s becoming a second home,” he said, highlighting the serene lodges that offer a homey yet luxurious experience for his family.
A Humorous Moment Between DJs
Wright also enjoyed some light-hearted fun with his fellow DJs, Marvin Humes and Take That’s Howard Donald, who had sets scheduled around his performance. “What’s the best thing about a sandwich? It is the filling,” he joked, calling Howard the “granary bread” and Marvin the “gluten-free bread,” while describing himself as the “cheese, ham, coleslaw, and everything else.”
Mark’s connection to Glasgow, from the city’s nightlife to family ties and scenic retreats, has turned it into more than just a tour stop. It’s a place of relaxation, fond memories, and family for him and Michelle, making every visit special.
