Grant County Seniors Receive Support From Community Programs

The Grant County Senior Program is dedicated to providing seniors and disabled persons with the resources they need to meet their daily survival needs. On April 19, 2023, the community celebrated the success of these programs and their impact on the lives of local seniors.

Establishing Linkages Within The Community

The Grant County Senior Program has established linkages within the community in order for seniors and disabled persons to access necessary services. These linkages provide a wide range of support services such as information, education, recreation, and meals. The program also provides a venue for many activities that are designed to help seniors stay active and engaged in their communities.

Senior Citizen Centers Offer Resources

The Grant County Senior Center is committed to providing resources for senior citizens and their families or caregivers. The center offers a variety of services including health screenings, nutrition classes, exercise classes, social activities, computer classes, and more. Additionally, the center provides lunch at the site for those who are unable to cook for themselves or do not have access to nutritious meals.

Tax Programs Provide Financial Relief

Seniors may qualify for an exemption from all or part of their property tax on their residence in Grant County if they meet certain qualifications. This financial relief can be especially helpful for those living on fixed incomes or who have limited resources. In addition to this program, there are other assistance services available through Connect Grant County which can provide additional support for seniors in need.

HMS Senior Services Promote Social Activity

HMS Senior Services in Grant County works with local organizations to promote social activity among seniors in the area. Through these efforts they have seen an average of 70% increase in socially active seniors compared to those who are not involved in any type of social activity. This demonstrates how important it is for seniors to remain connected with their communities and engage with others around them.
