Drivers in Glasgow should prepare for significant overnight road closures on the M8 motorway this December. Amey, acting on behalf of Transport Scotland, will be conducting essential bridge expansion joint replacements at Georgetown Road, located between the St. James Interchange and Bishopton Interchange. The work is set to commence on Monday, December 9, 2024, and will continue until Friday, December 20, 2024.

Importance of the Maintenance Work
This maintenance scheme is crucial for enhancing the condition and performance of the M8 motorway. By replacing the bridge expansion joints, the project aims to reduce the need for more extensive maintenance in the future, ultimately benefiting the thousands of vehicles that use this route daily.
Transport Scotland appreciates the patience and understanding of road users during this period of necessary work. It is important to note that all operations are weather-dependent and may be subject to cancellation or rescheduling if conditions are not favorable.
As Glasgow prepares for these essential upgrades, motorists are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly and allow for extra travel time during the affected nights.
