Wyndford Locks Care Home in Maryhill recently had the honor of hosting Bob Doris, the Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for Glasgow Maryhill and Springburn. The visit took place earlier this month and highlighted the care home’s dedication to providing high-quality nursing and dementia care.
A Tour of the Facility
Wyndford Locks Care Home, operated by HC-One Scotland, boasts 120 beds, providing both nursing and dementia care services to its residents. During his visit, MSP Bob Doris had the opportunity to tour the facility, which included several key areas such as the hair salon, hobby room, lounge, ensuite bedrooms, and beautifully landscaped gardens.
In addition to seeing the amenities, Mr. Doris engaged with residents and staff, taking the time to discuss their experiences at the home and the issues most important to them.
A Collaborative Effort for the Community
Danielle Cunningham, the home manager, expressed her appreciation for the visit, saying, “We were delighted to welcome MSP Bob Doris to our home. Everyone had a great time, chatting and discussing key issues they care about and what actions can be taken to overcome them.”
During his visit, Mr. Doris expressed his gratitude for the dedication of staff in the care sector, acknowledging their efforts to create a safe and nurturing environment for the residents. He also took a special interest in the home’s community café, which is aimed at serving the wider Maryhill community. “It was particularly interesting to hear of the ambition to further develop their community café for the wider Maryhill community,” he said. “I look forward to working with Wyndford Locks on that project.”
The visit emphasized the strong partnership between local care providers and the community, as well as the ongoing commitment to improving the quality of care and services for elderly residents.
